Our relaxing and therapeutic massages are a take on a classic Swedish massage, the most common form used in holistic therapy. Due to my empathetic and holistic nature, I'm usually drawn to people's problematic areas so I will tailor these massages to help ease any tense and tight muscles the recipient may have.

Therapeutic Massage - The Philosophy.

Swedish massage was invented by a Swedish fencing instructor named Per Henrik Ling in the 1830s. When he was injured in the elbows, he reportedly cured himself using tapping (percussion) strokes around the affected area. He later developed the technique currently known as Swedish massage. This technique was brought to the United States from Sweden by two brothers, Dr Charles and Dr George Taylor in the 1850s. The specific techniques used in Swedish massage involve the application of long gliding strokes, friction, and kneading and tapping movements on the soft tissues of the body. Sometimes passive or active joint movements are also used within this treatment.

What are
the benefits?

01

Reduces Stress

All can benefit from a regular session for relaxation purposes, but it is particularly beneficial to people suffering from stress. During the treatment, you already have a tranquil atmosphere, but the massage itself will melt away tension in tight muscles and connective tissues.

03

Increases circulation

Massage dilates the blood vessels to increase circulation, improving your body’s ability to deliver fresh blood to muscles and organs. Swedish Massage also encourages the flow of lymphatic fluid, it increases lymphocytes, and immune cells that are produced in the lymph nodes, promoting a healthy immune system and a better sense of wellbeing.

02

Improves mood

People who are full of stress and tension are usually uncomfortable and fed up. Research shows that during a massage, serotonin and dopamine are released, improving their mood and feeling of emotional well-being. It will give you a boost of energy and therefore reduce stress.

04

Relieves pain

The main reason we have massages is that an area of our body is causing us pain. As busy people, we hold a lot of tension in our shoulders and back, this can cause headaches and muscle tenderness. Regular massages will reduce tension, melt away the stiffness in neck muscles and will in turn relieve the pain it was causing

What to
Expect...

If you’ve never had a massage before this is a great introduction. You will be greeted with our lovely heated couch and covered up to provide modesty. This treatment is the perfect way to soothe and relax tense muscles and soft tissues. Typically, during a half-hour massage, we use a combination of different techniques to help restore relaxation and well-being. During the 30 minutes, we would work the back, neck and shoulders. During an hour-long treatment, we can perform a full body massage which includes the back, shoulders, neck, arms, hands, legs and feet..

Thank you so much for my heavenly face/shoulders/upper back massage. The added guided meditation is the icing on the cake. The aromatic facial is wonderfully relaxing... much needed.
